The Global Communicator Program - Session 1 - Travel English Lessons

This plan is designed to be highly practical, build immediate confidence, and get the client speaking from the first minute.

Lesson 1: First Contact & Survival Phrases

  • Module: Module 1: The Foundation
  • Time: 60 Minutes
  • Objective: By the end of this lesson, the learner will be able to:
    1. Use basic greetings and polite expressions.
    2. Introduce himself.
    3. Confidently use 3-4 "magic phrases" to control a conversation when he doesn't understand.

Materials Needed

  • A dedicated notebook for the learner.
  • Two pens (e.g., one black, one blue/red).
  • A printout of the lesson's key phrases (optional, for easy reference).

Lesson Plan

1. Warm-Up & Introduction (10 minutes)

  • Goal: Build rapport and establish the "rules" of the class.
  • Action:
    1. Teacher: Start with simple greetings. "Hello. My name is Atik." (Speak slowly and clearly).
    2. Learner: Encourage him to respond. "Hello. My name is Mohamed"
    3. Set the Philosophy:

"Welcome! This class is not a school. There are no exams. Our only goal is communication. Speaking is more important than grammar. Confidence is more important than perfection. It is okay to make mistakes."

    1. Introduce the Notebook: "This is your most important tool. We will build your personal phrasebook here."

2. Core Activity A: Greetings & Politeness (15 minutes)

  • Goal: Master the "social lubricants" of English.
  • Action:
    1. Introduce Phrases (The "Listen and Repeat" Method):
      • Say the English word clearly.
      • Have the learner repeat it 3 times.
      • Provide the French/Darija equivalent to confirm understanding.
