Definitions

  • Health: The state of being free from illness or injury, and having a strong body and mind.

  • Welfare: The general well-being of a person or a community, including health, comfort, safety, and happiness.


2. Vocabulary Items

 Health Vocabulary

  • Illness / Disease = مرض

  • Injury = إصابة

  • Nutrition = التغذية

  • Exercise = التمارين الرياضية

  • Sleep = النوم

  • Hygiene = النظافة

  • Stress = التوتر

  • Treatment = العلاج

  • Doctor / Nurse = طبيب / ممرضة

  • Medicine = دواء

 Welfare Vocabulary

  • Well-being = العافية / الرفاهية

  • Safety = السلامة

  • Comfort = الراحة

  • Social services = الخدمات الاجتماعية

  • Support = الدعم

  • Mental health = الصحة النفسية

  • Community = المجتمع


3. Health Tips

Teach them simple sentences with modal verbs (should / shouldn’t):

You should…

  • Eat fruits and vegetables every day.

  • Sleep early and get enough rest.

  • Exercise regularly.

  • Drink clean water.

  • Wash your hands before meals.

You shouldn’t…

  • Stay up late too often.

  • Eat too much junk food.

  • Smoke or drink alcohol.

  • Spend too much time on screens.

  • Ignore your mental health.


4. Practice Activities

A. Matching

Match the word with its meaning:

  1. Hygiene

  2. Stress

  3. Nutrition

  4. Welfare

a) The food and drinks your body needs
b) The general well-being of people
c) Cleanliness to stay healthy
d) Worry or pressure


B. Speaking Practice

Work in pairs:

  • Student A: Give 2 health tips.

  • Student B: Say if they agree or disagree.

Example:
A: You should eat more vegetables.
B: Yes, I agree. Vegetables are important for health.


C. Writing Task

Write 5 sentences giving advice to a friend who always sleeps late and eats junk food. Use should / shouldn’t.
