A list of family members:

English                  Word	Meaning	Example Sentence
father	الأب	My father is very kind.
mother	الأم	My mother is a teacher.
brother	الأخ	I have one brother.
sister	الأخت	My sister is older than me.
grandfather	الجد	My grandfather tells good stories.
grandmother	الجدة	My grandmother lives with us.
uncle	العم / الخال	My uncle lives in Rabat.
aunt	العمة / الخالة	My aunt is a nurse.
cousin	ابن/بنت العم/الخال	My cousin is my best friend.
baby	رضيع	The baby is sleeping.

  Examples:

 Talking about your family:

• This is my father. His name is Omar.

• I have two brothers and one sister.

• My mother is a doctor.

• We live with our grandparents.

 Using "his" and "her":

• His name is Ali. → (for a boy or man)

• Her name is Samira. → (for a girl or woman)

Example: My sister is 14. Her name is Sara.

Asking Questions

You can ask questions about someone’s family like this:

With a partner or in front of the class, answer the following:

Write a short paragraph (4-5 sentences) about your family.

Example:
